If you're a fan of the classic bourbon sour cocktail (or enjoy a fruity drink), this Cherry Bourbon Sour is for you!
I'm on a little bit of a bourbon kick lately between this Cherry Bourbon Sour and the? Bourbon Glazed Turkey recipe I posted and I'm not sad about it. While I'm not a huge bourbon-on-the-rocks girl, I do enjoy the barrel-aged liquor in a cocktail. Which is where the Cherry Bourbon Sour enters the scene.
This cocktail is made with homemade cherry simple syrup, and while there are probably decent substitutes, they likely pale in comparison. I used fresh cherries for this recipe, however feel free to grab the frozen variety if necessary. This simple syrup keeps for up to 2 weeks if refrigerated. This means you can use it in a variety of cocktails!
I love the addition of oranges in this Cherry Bourbon Sour. Oranges and bourbon are great amigos since the sweetness of the oranges tones down the bitterness of the alcohol. I used freshly squeezed orange juice for this recipe and highly recommend that you do the same.
This recipe is a great holiday drink option. It's also an easy one to prep in advance and mix to order, making this Cherry Bourbon Sour great for gatherings as well. However, feel free to enjoy it year-round no matter the season!
